Macklin Joins BZ Radio

I am back from vacation, and from the looks of it I have not missed much. One story I did pick up comes from the radio world. Mike Macklin, most recently of WHDH-TV, is joining WBZ Radio. Remember that Macklin filed a discrimination lawsuit against WHDH last year.

Lawrence, MA hit a high of 89 degrees today. Not sure if it was a record for this date, but it sure felt great!

I was surprised to hear this. I thought WBZ-AM was doing all it could to eliminate jobs, not hire new people.

And if memory serves me correctly, didn’t he work for WBZ-TV initially before going over to WHDH? Kind of a homecoming, of sorts.

Nobody wanna comment on the fact that he was fired by ‘BZ once already for beating up a then-girlfriend, and that this represents a stunning about-face by management? No, of course not. Much more interesting to discuss Amanda Grace’s eye make-up in a thread that has utterly nothing whatsoever to do with her – how delightfully substantive!

Welcome Back Michael Page! I am suprised to learn that Mike Macklin joined WBZ Radio since I know they along with WBZ TV, WBMX, WBCN, WODS and WZLX were making cuts over the past year or 2. Also Michael Have you decided on which college you plan on attending this fall?

There will be more than a few displaced radio people upset to hear that a ‘TV guy’ got a radio gig…at a station, no less, that has been doing nothing but cutting up till now. Whether Macklin ‘earned’ the job or was given it is probably open for debate.

At this point, I don’t think even Scott Wahle is wondering whether Scott Wahle will get brought in; it’s just that “certain people” have an anti-Scott fetish and would come out in hives if it were to actually happen.

Lets not forget the 911 call by Macklin’s then girlfriend who requested Boston police assistance because he beat her up. Great.. a former TV reporter who no one will hire winds up at WBZ with the domestic abuse moniker around his neck. And he is as odd looking as Jay Severin, to boot.

I’d be curious to know what Macklin’s discrimination complaint was about. I wonder if he was actually fired and the discrimination followed???
