By Michael Page | October 9, 2007

FOX25Hot off the presses…FOX 25 will air an 11 PM broadcast beginning on Monday November 5. The half hour new newscast will be anchored by Mark and Maria. You may remember that the Herald picked up on this scoop, and it appears that they were right! Check my post from back then here.

Whats going to happen to my Jerry Senfield? Senfield is usually on that time slot?

Good question, I am sure we will get a full schedule as we get closer, but I highly doubt it will go away.

Sienfeld, at least now, is on at 7:00 pm as well :)
I would miss Jerry if he went away, too!

I am not sure, but I think on TBS Senfield is also shown at 11 pm. I don’t know for sure because of the baseball play offs. (((oy vey)))

Will this follow the 10pm newscast or are they changing this also?

November is the next sweeps period.

The newscast will follow the 10 PM show which will not change.

I’m glad that the 10pm newscast is staying…can’t do the 11pm thing.

My prediction: This dies, either quickly or slowly. People, in my opinion, like the 10pm newscast because it is on, well, at 10pm. People either can’t or don’t want to wait up till 11pm to start watching news they can get an hour earlier. This is just another place to park the incessant drum-beat of car and furniture store commercials that TV newscasts are famous for (“Why are you now trying to sell me a Kia after trying to sell me a Volvo and a Hummer and a Saab and a Chrysler and a Honda and a Toyota before that?”). I swear, TV news operations are so myopic, so insular. They feel as though they somehow ‘know’ that people want this. How smart of them. Again, this new venture will (or should) DIE.

[...] Fox Boston’s new 11pm newscast is bumping Seinfeld from it’s spot…the spot that I watch every night. [...]

Yeah… arn’t all the 11p shows losing audiances while the morning shows are gaining. Maybe they can spend the money on a replacement for VB, oh how annoying he has become

Fox has been instituting these 11pm newscasts on their other stations, too. They tend to not do well going head-to-head with the established network affiliates. For instance, WFXT’s 5pm news has been on for years yet still barely scores a rating.

That said, consider that (a) it’s not going to cost ch. 25 much more money to extend their 10pm news by a half hour, and (b) Fox is known to stick with newscasts that run in the red. According to Ken Auletta’s profile of Rupert Murdoch, Fox news is as much about having a political voice as it is to earn a profit.

I hate FOX news (too conservative while I’m liberal) However, I like Fox25. I think your right about Fox trying to be political. Thats why they put the ignorant republican (VB) on the morning show…

“Thats why they put the ignorant republican (VB) on the morning show…”

Guess you must have been trying to save the planet or something when all that supposed ‘tolerance’ and ‘compassion’ that Liberals are known for was given out. Thanks for confirming what everyone already knows.

They won’t hire any more people or give anyone raises. They will just make the people they already have work twice as much for no compensation.
