Boston TV Leader Dies

Jim Thistle, a Boston TV News leader, died today at age 66. Thistle, who served as News Director at all of the major network affiliates for a time, later became the director of BU’s broadcast journalism program. He died at Beth Israel Hospital following a battle with cancer.

I have just been given the viewership numbers for WBZ’s 4th on 4 coverage. They did quite well, as could be expected. Beginning at 8 PM WBZ was the number one rated station in Boston. Edward R. Murrow Awards Announced

The Edward R. Murrow Awards were announced today, and one of the national winners is a Boston station. 7 News at 11 (WHDH-TV) won the national Edward R.
